3 Credits This course surveys the nearly 200-year history of photography from early experiments and the daguerreotype to the digital revolution and the present day. Students will learn about photography’s major practitioners, applications, movements, and the technological developments that changed the way images were made, distributed and viewed. Photography will be examined in social and cultural context, giving students a broad understanding of the medium’s impact and significance.
