MUS* 213: Music Theory III3 Credits A continued study of tonal music, including chromatic harmony: altered chords, augmented sixth/Neapolitan chords, mode mixture, modulation, enharmonic reinterpretation, extended chords, and techniques of the late 19th century. Analytical and writing skills are further developed, along with a deeper understanding of musical form and structure.The aural component of the material studied in this course is covered in MUS* 260 , therefore MUS* 213 and MUS* 260 hould be taken concurrently. Both courses are only offered in the fall semester. Open to any student at the college. Prerequisites: “C” or better in MUS* 116 and corequisite MUS* 260 , or permission of the instructor.
