CJS* 213: Evidence & Criminal Procedure3 Credits The study of the major rules of evidence and the steps necessary to compile a comprehensive and complete courtroom record. Emphasis will be placed on the hearsay rule, confessions, and evidence obtained though search and seizure. Prerequisites: A study of the U.S. Constitution particularly the Bill of Rights and the Fourteenth Amendment, as they relate to the functioning of the criminal justice system. Emphasis will be placed on Individual rights, due process and civil liberties as applied to search and seizure, arrests, confessions, and identification.
Prerequisites: Successful completion of ENG* 101 with a grade of C- or better and successful completion of CJS* 101 or CJS* 105 . Offered: Spring
