PHY* 221: Calculus-Based Physics I4 Credits (Formerly PHYS 131) A study of Newtonian mechanics and thermodynamics intended for physics, chemistry, engineering and math transfer students. Topics include particle and rigid body dynamics, work, momentum and energy conservation, gravitation, fluids, heat, and the laws of thermodynamics. A TI-83+ or TI-84+ or TI-86+ graphing calculator or its equivalent is required. Class: 3 hours per week. Laboratory: 3 hours per week. Prerequisites: Successful completion of MAT* 254 with a ‘C’ or better and PHY* 110 with a grade of ‘C’ or better (or successful completion of one year of high school physics). Offered: Fall,Spring
