MUS* 216: Contemporary Music Theory and Application3 Credits A continuation of fundamentals. Continued analysis and application of major and minor key harmony. Introduction to modal interchange, sub-dominant minor harmony and chord scale theory. A review of melodic construction and melody and harmony relationship. The course is geared towards the study of contemporary styles such as jazz, pop, rock, R n’ B, and Blues. Prerequisites: “C” or better in MUS* 115 or permission of instructor. Offered: Fall
