PHY* 221: Calculus-Based Physics I4 Credits (Formerly PHYS 131) A study of Newtonian mechanics and thermodynamics intended for physics, chemistry, engineering and math transfer students. Topics include particle and rigid body dynamics, work, momentum and energy conservation, gravitation, fluids, heat, and the laws of thermodynamics. A TI-83+ or TI-84+ or TI-86+ graphing calculator or its equivalent is required. Class: 3 hours per week. Laboratory: 3 hours per week. Prerequisites: Successful completion of MAT* 254 (formerly MAT* 250), and PHY* 110 (or successful completion of one year of high school physics).
